AyP Sound LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the FOLEY mobile application and the aypsound.com website. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our services.

Sound Recordings & CC0 Licensing

By recording and uploading a sound through the FOLEY app, you agree to dedicate that recording to the public domain under CC0 1.0 Universal. You retain no copyright or related rights in the recording once uploaded.

We do not include any personally identifiable information in the sound file metadata. Recordings are associated with your anonymous creator profile for the purpose of awarding FOL creator credits only.

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect a minimal set of information necessary to operate the service: your email address (or Apple Sign-In identifier), a display name of your choosing, and your device's general location (city-level only, used to tag where a sound was recorded).

We collect audio recordings you choose to submit through the app. These recordings are stored on our servers and made publicly available under CC0 as described above.

We collect basic app usage data to improve the service, such as which features you use and how often. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs that track you across other apps or websites.

FOL Creator Credits

FOL creator credits are utility tokens used within the FOLEY ecosystem to recognize and reward contributions. We maintain records of your FOL balance and transaction history (credits earned from recordings, tips received, and credits spent on bounties or platform features).

FOL credits are not transferable outside the platform and have no cash value. They cannot be traded, sold, or exchanged for money.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate and improve the FOLEY app, process and store your sound recordings, maintain your creator profile and FOL credit balance, communicate service updates and respond to support requests, and prevent abuse of the platform.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Sound recordings uploaded to FOLEY are public domain (CC0) and available to anyone. We may share aggregated, anonymized usage statistics with partners. We will disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Enterprise customers who license our sound collection infrastructure receive access to CC0 sound files and their metadata (categories, tags, recording conditions). They do not receive your personal account information.

Data Storage & Security

Your account data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS). Sound files are stored on Cloudflare R2. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest. We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal account data at any time by contacting us at foley@aypsound.com. Note that CC0 sound recordings you have already uploaded cannot be "un-released" from the public domain, as CC0 is irrevocable.

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. This will remove your personal profile data but will not remove CC0 recordings already in the public library.

Children's Privacy

FOLEY is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at foley@aypsound.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
